The makeover

This website is where work to revive the VK2BV website is happening.

If you’re looking for up-to-date detailed information about the Waverley Amateur Radio Society you’ll discover much more at vk2bv.org.

For now, this page introduces a new blank slate web development space where a newly organised website for VK2BV will take place, hopefully to be migrated across to the website’s ultimate home.

Initial immediate challenges are:

  • to analyse the extent and organisation of the current site identifying features to be retained and either given more prominence, or a new location within the website.
  • Understand the workings of the WordPress site “under the hood” and how in the first instance this applies to the default selected template (which should be adequate to develop a working website structure and editorial operations process)
  • migrate existing sections to this webdev site and ensure they work logically and as our audiences might expect.

One of the aims of this project is to ensure a coherent presentation on the site, so that the latest and most relevant content promoting club activities appears in the most appropriate and visible part of the site. And to ensure that the editorial procedures to update the new website are simple and and easy to be followed, so that it continues to be coherent.

A secondary aim is to develop the new site to more effectively provide more engaging content for the club’s members and visitors to the website curious about amateur radio.

This stage of the website development process is not overly focussed on the graphical look and feel of the website. The priority at the moment is to get the structure or architecture laid out, and ensure it works, mainly by migrating exisiting content from vk2bv.org, and that future content growth can be managed.
